During the last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rains with one or two very heavy spells occurred over many parts of Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, the rain intensity was heavy over Northeast and southern districts.

The reason for these rains was the axis of Monsoon Trough passing through North Madhya Pradesh via Gwalior. Also, a Cyclonic Circulation was persisting over South-central Uttar Pradesh. A Trough form this Circulation was extending up to Telangana via East Madhya Pradesh.

In fact, Eastern and Northeast districts were also receiving good rains during the last few days. So, we can say that this rainy spell has covered almost the entire state. However, southwestern districts of Ratlam, Ujjain, Dhar, Indore, Sajhapur, Rajgarh and Khargone remained almost dry with only isolated light rains.

Now, the rain activities are expected to continue over many parts of the state particularly over West Madhya Pradesh, with moderate to heavy intensity.

The intensity of rains will decrease to some extent over East Madhya Pradesh, but the weather will not become dry.

By July 28, the rain belt will shift over South-western districts of the state. It is during this period that places like Khargone, Dhar, Ratlam, Indore and Ujjain will get heavy to very heavy rains.

Rain activities will fade away by July 29, but another spell of good rains will reappear soon after by July 30 over east Madhya Pradesh which will gradually cover the entire state.

So, until the first week of August, Madhya Pradesh is going to get good rains which will wipe out the rain deficiency of the state to a big extent.
