Madhya Pradesh lashed by widespread good Monsoon rains

Madhya Pradesh has been under the influence of multiple weather systems. Accordingly, the state has been lashed by good amounts of rainfall for the last two days.

In a span of 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Monday, Jabalpur received 75 mm of rainfall. Indore received 17 mm of rainfall while Guna received 11 mm. Gwalior also received 58 mm of rainfall and Bhopal 34 mm.

First of all, the axis of the Monsoon trough is now passing through Sri Ganganagar, Gwalior, Satna, Daltonganj, Digha, the centre  of  the low pressure area in North Bay of Bengal and thence southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.

We can also see a cyclonic circulation lingering on over South Uttar Pradesh. A trough from this system is extending up to Gujarat region, across Madhya Pradesh.

Thus, the combined effect of several weather systems brought moderate to heavy rainfall over many parts of Madhya Pradesh. During last 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon brought fairly widespread rains over Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Odisha as well.

As the low pressure area, lying over North Bay of Bengal, shifts inland the intensity of rainfall will increase in Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

Madhya Pradesh will continue to receive on an off heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. We cannot rule out one or two extremely heavy spells as well.
