Monsoon has shown an appreciable performance in the state of Madhya Pradesh this season. The state has received continuous Monsoon rains. We have not seen a long period of dry weather conditions here.
On Saturday, Southwest Monsoon remined active over Madhya Pradesh, particularly the western parts of the state. Multiple weather systems in proximity to Madhya Pradesh are bringing Monsoon rains over the state.
There is a cyclonic circulation lying over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Another cyclonic circulation is sitting over Marathwada and adjoining areas. The axis of the Monsoon trough is also running across Bikaner, Guna, Jabalpur, Durg, the centre of the low pressure area, and further towards east-central Bay of Bengal.
During last 24 hours, Betul received 8.4 mm of rainfall, Khandwa 25 mm, Guna 18.7 mm, Bhopal 17.5 mm, Ujjain 13 mm and Gwalior 4 mm.
Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country at present to receive excess Monsoon rains so far this season, besides Rajasthan.
As of August 28, West Madhya Pradesh has received 38% more rains than normal while East Madhya Pradesh witnessed 34% more rains.
