Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will witness a gradual decrease in rainfall

August 6, 2023 3:40 PM |

Madhya Pradesh is one of the states which continues with on-and-off rainfall throughout the monsoon season. Most of the low-pressure areas are developed over central parts of the Bay of Bengal and travelled via Madhya Pradesh and south Chhattisgarh. That is why between June 1st and August 7, east Madhya Pradesh is surplus by 15% and West Madhya Pradesh by 11%. Chhattisgarh has received normal rainfall with a deficiency of just 01%.

The formation of successive low-pressure areas and depressions over the Bay of Bengal and their travel to the Westerly direction kept the monsoon trough over the Central parts of the country. Now there is no significant weather system over either the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian Sea. Therefore, the eastern end of the monsoon is now over East India. It will remain over Indo Gangetic Plains for at least the next 8 to 10 days. Rainfall activities over the central parts of the country particularly over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will diminish now. There will be a gradual decrease in rain activities over these States. The weather will go almost dry from August 9 or 10. Isolated light rain may continue thereafter as well but they will be insignificant.
