During the last few days, on and off rain and thundershower activities are going on in East Madhya Pradesh as well as Chhattisgarh. Although during the last 24 hours, rainfall activities have subsided as the Confluence Zone has shifted eastward. Now, a Trough will soon extend to South Chhattisgarh leading to an increase in the rainfall activities over the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and many parts of Chhattisgarh.
Thus, rain will again pick up pace in East Madhya Pradesh and in many parts of Chhattisgarh. Moderate showers are possible in these areas combined with lightning strikes and hailstorm. Strong surface winds are also possible. Places like Mandla, Jabalpur and Damoh are expected to observe rain and thundershower. The southern and central parts of Chhattisgarh including places like Rajnandgaon, Raigarh and Jagdalpur will receive good rains.
For the next few days, the day temperature will remain below normal by three to four degrees due to the ongoing rains. However, the night temperature will remain above normal by two to three degrees Celsius. These unseasonal rains may damage the standing crop due to isolated hailstorm and strong winds.
These on and off rains will continue until February 8. The rainfall activity is likely to start shifting towards Odisha and West Bengal, February 9 onward.
This is when the weather will start clearing up from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Following this, the day temperatures will once again start increasing over the region.
