Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh gear up for chilling weather and more rains

January 31, 2020 11:16 AM |

rain in Madhya Pradesh

Multiple parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have received unseasonal rains during the last few days due to the formation of a Confluence Zone. However, for the last two days, weather of these states have become dry since the Confluence Zone has moved away. Moreover, the Western Disturbance which was persisting over Western Himalayas has also shifted away to the East.

Apart from this, northwesterly and northerly winds are blowing across most parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh since the last 24 to 48 hours, leading to a significant fall in both day and night temperatures. Day temperatures over many places have come down to mid-20s which were in lower 30s. Minimums also witnessed a drop of three to six degrees leading to Winter chill during the early morning and late-night hours.

Cold winds from Northwest are expected to continue for another 24 hours, leading to further reduction in temperatures over the area. However, the fall in temperatures will not be very steep. Weather will remain cold during night and pleasant during the day.

As we do not expect any significant weather system over the states for the next few days, thus any major weather activity is being ruled out for some time.

However, by February 3 and 4, rain and thundershowers will again lash central and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. These rains will be brought in due a Confluence Zone. Lightning strikes and thundershowers cannot be ruled out during this time.
