The upper air cyclonic circulation over eastcentral Arabian Sea and off the Karnataka coast persists. A trough can also be seen extending from Haryana right up to Telangana, across Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. These two weather systems have been instrumental for fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities over Southwest Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Konkan and Goa.
Here’s a look at the rainfall activities in Maharashtra during last 24 hours:
Goa has also received 15 mm of rainfall on Saturday.
Now we can expect these rainfall activities to continue for another 4 to 5 days. The intensity of rainfall will be fairly good with few places receiving heavy showers. This prolonged spell of rain and thundershowers will continue till the arrival of Monsoon over these areas.
The cyclonic circulation off the Karnataka coast is expected to move in a northerly direction along the Maharashtra coast. This will increase the intensity of rain over entire Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa. By June 12, the rain intensity will increase over southern parts of Gujarat also. We have to wait and watch if by then Monsoon will be declared over Maharashtra including Mumbai or not.
