East India Weather 1

East Uttar Pradesh and parts of North Bihar have been witnessing dense to very dense fog almost from past one week. This has led to intensification of winters over both the states.

Looking at the last 48 hours weather conditions, day temperatures have plummeted significantly that led to cold day conditions at many places of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar such as Forbesganj, Supaul, Muzaffarpur, Patna  and Chapra in Bihar; Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Fursatganj, Lucknow, Kanpur, Shahjahanpur and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

What's more, severe cold day conditions were witnessed over places like Hamirpur, Bahraich and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, wherein maximum temperatures settled around 10°C to 11°C.

The cause of this major descent in temperature could be attributed to the continuing fog layer throughout the day across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, which hindered even the sun to show up. This has prevented the rise in the maximum temperatures which are now settling between 10°C and 15°C, leading to severe winter conditions.

As per Skymet Weather, dense to very dense fog will continue over most parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as Bihar for at least the next 48 hours.

However, northwesterly winds have now picked up pace over the northern plains, hence the intensity of fog is likely to reduce over the western parts of Uttar Pradesh, wherein maximum temperatures would also start mounting during the next 24 hours. Residents of this mentioned region would feel some relief.

However, East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will have to wait for more days to let the fog and winter chill to lose clutch.
