Uttar Pradesh received a few spells of rain during the pre-Monsoon period. The state is presently rain deficient by 34 percent. The major reason for the deficit rain is that the eastern part of the state is almost dry. After a long gap of time, Lucknow has received light rain and thundershower of 2 mm yesterday. Weather of Varanasi and Allahabad remains dry.
Meanwhile, no significant weather activity has been witnessed by Gorakhpur. By this time Monsoon should have covered the entire state but it is still stagnant over Bihar and has reached up to Patna. However, districts of West Uttar Pradesh and North West plains of the country have been receiving good rains since last few days.

Cities like Agra, Bareilly, Meerut, and Moradabad have been receiving on and off rains. The pattern of rainfall is like Monsoon over the Western Districts but still, Monsoon has yet not been declared as East Uttar Pradesh is experiencing dry weather conditions since last many days. Until and unless East Uttar Pradesh receives good rains, Monsoon will not advance over West Uttar Pradesh and other Northeastern states.
