The low-pressure area over northwest West Uttar Pradesh has given widespread rains over the state of Uttar Pradesh. In fact, isolated pockets had even experienced extremely heavy rains. On the past day as well, almost the entire stretch from West Uttar Pradesh to East Uttar Pradesh has recorded good Monsoon showers.

After remaining dry for some initial days of July, these rains are now in continuation for the past couple of days. In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Meerut observed record-breaking rains at a whopping 226 mm. This is the highest 24 hours rainfall in a decade.

During the similar time frame, Shahjahanpur recorded 57 mm of rains, Bareilly 47 mm, Bahraich 38 mm, Najibabad 35 mm, Lucknow 28 mm, Kanpur 17 mm, Agra 13 mm, Aligarh 8 mm, and Varanasi recorded 0.8 mm of rains.

As of now also, Skymet Weather does not foresee any major reduction in the rains over Uttar Pradesh. In fact, the rains are expected to continue over the state. As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Bihar and adjoining areas. This system is very likely to intensify into a low-pressure area and would move in a westerly direction.

Along with this, the axis of the Monsoon trough is also passing via the region. In the wake of all these weather systems, widespread rains are likely to continue over the state for another couple of days. Although the rains would be of lesser intensity over West Uttar Pradesh.
