Rainy days were shying away from parts of North India for quite some time now. So much so that the region was witnessing dry as well as warm weather conditions. However, in a fortunate turn of events, rain gods have finally made an appearance over the North Indian plains.
In fact, parts of Uttar Pradesh witnessed a rainy Thursday with a few areas recording a few sharp spells of rain. The national capital Delhi has also witnessed a few good spells of rainfall with Safdarjung recording 10 mm of rain.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Agra recorded a whopping 29 mm of rainfall, Aligarh 20 mm, Bareilly 11 mm, Meerut 3 mm. The capital city Lucknow also recorded 0.7 mm of rainfall.
As per weathermen at Skymet, more rains are expected to lash these areas today as well. The western parts of Uttar Pradesh may witness a few heavy spells as well. Cities including Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Bareilly are expected to witness good rains.
In fact, Lucknow is expected to receive rains anytime now. Thunderclouds have been developing over the region and the possibility of showers is quite likely.
The reason for these rains will be attributed to the induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining areas. The trough from this system is extending up to western parts of Uttar Pradesh.
