Southwest Monsoon has covered entire parts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The state did not even receive much rain in the pre-Monsoon period. In fact, rains remained far and few from this state. With this, Uttar Pradesh is running deficient in terms of state wise rainfall.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Hardoi recorded 50 mm of rainfall, Kanpur 36 mm, Bareilly 23 mm, Jhansi 17 mm, Hamirpur and Bahraich 15 mm while Agra recorded 12 mm, Lucknow 8 mm, Fursatganj 5 mm and Aligarh 1 mm.
As per Skymet Weather, the axis of monsoon trough is passing through Uttar Pradesh. A cyclonic circulation is seen persisting over East Uttar Pradesh. With this, moderate to heavy rain and thundershower activities are expected to occur over many parts of Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 to 48 hours. Chances of lightning strikes also cannot be ruled out.

Meanwhile, good rains are likely to continue over parts of Central and East Uttar Pradesh. However, the intensity of rains are expected to reduce over western parts of the state but the weather conditions over Uttar Pradesh will not go completely dry.
In spite of experiencing a long wait for the Southwest Monsoon rains, Uttar Pradesh is now all set to receive heavy spells of rainfall over central and eastern parts of the state. Places like Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Allahabad, and Lucknow is likely to receive good rains for another two to three days.
But the weather conditions over Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, and Etta will go dry.
