Dense to very dense fog has made a comeback over the several parts of Northwest and East India. As a result, visibility has gone down significantly, disrupting train and air traffic.
On Wednesday morning, places like Chandigarh, Delhi, Varanasi, Bagdogra witnessed very dense fog, with visibility dropping to zero at all these places.
Conditions were no different over Lucknow and Gaya that too reported visibility of mere 50 meters, followed by Gorakhpur at 200 meters.
Down south, Bangalore also woke up to foggy morning today as it observed the visibility of 200 meters.
According to Skymet Weather, clear weather conditions paves way for early cooling of the earth surface. Due to this, condensation takes place near the ground that leads to formation of fog.
Moreover, winds are also light at present and humidity levels are high during the morning hours. all these factors result in formation of fog.
However, fog does not persist for very long and start clearing away as soon as the sun comes up and day temperatures starts rising.
Weathermen predict that fog is most likely to continue to engulf parts of Northwest and East India for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, winds pattern may change again and fog may disappear.
