April 16, 2019 1:23 PM |

Rain in Uttar Pradesh

Presently, a Western Disturbance is stationed at Jammu and Kashmir with it’s induced Cyclonic Circulation over Rajasthan. A trough from this system is extending up to West Uttar Pradesh.

Moreover, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are feeding moisture to the northern plains up to a height of 10 km. Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy rain and thundershower with isolated hailstorm in the region. These weather activities would be accompanied with strong surface winds of 50-60 kmph gusting at 70 kmph over West and Central Uttar Pradesh on April 16.

According to meteorologists at Skymet, by today evening or night a Cyclonic Circulation is expected to form over northcentral parts of Uttar Pradesh and a trough from this system would extend up to East Uttar Pradesh. Hence, rain would spread over the eastern parts of the state by April 17. Light to moderate rains are expected to affect many parts of Uttar Pradesh on April 17.

Places like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Nazimabad, Bahraich, Lucknow, Kanpur and Hardoi would get to see rain and thundershower activities today. While on April 17, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Rai Bareilly, Amethi and Varanasi would observe rain.

By April 18, the weather system would start fading and the Western Disturbance will also move eastward. The moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal would stop and wind direction will change to northerly/northwesterly leading to dry weather conditions in the state once again. There will be a drop of five to six degrees in day temperature during this activity, which will make the weather cool and comfortable.
