As predicted by Skymet Weather, during the last 24 hours, many south coastal stations of Andhra Pradesh received heavy to very heavy rainfall activity. This was due to the well-marked low-pressure area in Southwest Bay of Bengal.
In fact, Tirupati recorded 110 mm of rain in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday. Rest southern coastal districts also witnessed heavy rains wherein Nellore recorded 55 mm of rain, Kavali 30 mm, Ongole 13 mm, Arogyavaram 10 mm and Cuddappah 4 mm.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over the northern parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Now, the well-marked low-pressure area has weakened into low-pressure area and is lying over interior parts of Tamil Nadu. But still thunderclouds are persisting over South coastal Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, we expect few intense spells of rain to occur over parts of Andhra Pradesh till Thursday evening.
Moderate rain and thundershower activities with strong gusty winds and few heavy spells are likely over Anantapur, Chittoor, East Godavari, Guntur, Krishna, Kurnool, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, West Godavari and Y.S.R. during next 24 hours.
Thereafter, as the low-pressure area will continue its westward journey and will weaken further, we expect intensity of rains to start reducing over South Andhra Pradesh. Then, by tomorrow we expect intensity to go down further and only isolated rains will continue.
Weather over entire Andhra Pradesh will clear by evening of November 23. There will be gradual increase in maximum temperatures from November 24.
