A well marked low pressure area is presently lying over Northwest Madhya Pradesh. Bundelkhand and neighborhood area of the state have been lashed with heavy rains. Bhind, Morena, Datia, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Guna, Ashoknagar, Tikamgarh and Nowgong have witnessed widespread rainfall during the past 24 hours. More rainfall is likely over this region today.
Strong steering winds in the higher levels are likely to drag the weather system over West and Central Uttar Pradesh. The interaction between the two systems will also intensify the low pressure to the next grade. Once recurved, the weather system will more or less be stationary over West and Southwest Uttar Pradesh. Persistence over the region for over 48 hours will result in heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places along the foothills and plains of Uttar Pradesh.
Some places have received downpour in the past 24hr. Jhansi, Orai, Lucknow, Kanpur and Bahraich have witnessed intense rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm. Heavy rainfall belt will extend further and cover Bareilly, Pilibhit, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Sitapur, Lucknow, Kanpur and Prayagraj.
The complete region has the risk of localized flooding. Rain and thundershowers accompanied with severe lightning and strong gusty winds are expected over West & Central Uttar Pradesh along with foothills. Weather system will gradually weaken over the same area and finally merge with the monsoon trough.
