Low pressure to give good rains over South Tamil Nadu

The cyclonic circulation which originated over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea has gradually induced into a low pressure system. This low-pressure system is travelling towards west-southwestwards direction.

This system is at present seen over southwest Bay of Bengal. Earlier it was anticipated that this system will give good rains over Chennai but now it is likely to affect southern parts of coastal Tamil Nadu.

Places like Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin, Shivganga, Nagapattinam, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli are expected to receive light to moderate rain in next 48 hours. One or two places may receive heavy rain also. During Cyclone Vardah, it was the northern and central parts of Tamil Nadu that received heavy rains but in comparison southern districts received light rains.

Now this is the fifth successive weather system which originated in Bay of Bengal. Due to this Southern parts will receive heavy rains than interior parts of Tamil Nadu. However, light rain cannot be ruled out over Pondicherry and Chennai.
