Monsoon rains have been kind enough to Kolkata during the month of July. In fact, the city has witnessed a few heavy to very heavy spells during the second week of the month.
While Kolkata recorded 67 mm of rain on July 8, heavy showers of 107 mm was witnessed on July 11. In fact, heavy showers of 40 mm were also recorded on July 12th.

However, now rainfall activity has taken a backseat over the city and during the last three days the city has only been witnessing very light rains.
Also, the last 24 hours were no different and Kolkata recorded a mere 1 mm of rainfall. The present weather conditions have been attributed to the presence of a low-pressure area over North West Bay of Bengal.
The system which was previously a cyclonic circulation intensified today and is expected to result in an increase in rainfall activity over the city of Kolkata.

Thus, as per skymet weather, monsoon rains may witness an increase over Kolkata. In fact, light to moderate rains will be observed over the city during the next 24 hours under the influence of this low pressure.
Marginal drop in a maximum temperature is also expected over Kolkata in the coming days. Does joyful day is unlikely to make a comeback once again over the city of joy.
