The low pressure which had developed in the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha and West Bengal. The system has been hanging around for the past 24 hours or so. The low pressure area is expected to become more marked in the next 24 hours.
However, the proximity of the coast may not allow this system to grow much and become beyond a well marked low pressure area. The weather system is supported by a well marked cyclonic circulation extending up to medium heights.
During the last 24 hours, there has been widespread rains over many parts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana with scattered heavy showers and isolated very heavy rainfall activities.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Khammam in Telangana recorded a whopping 207 mm of rains while Bhadrachalam witnessed 147 mm of rainfall. Nandigram in Andhra Pradesh saw 100 mm of rains, Visakhapatnam 86 mm, Vijayawada 85 mm. Meanwhile, Jagdalpur in Odisha 91 mm, Koraput 86 mm, and Balasore 80 mm.
The peripherals of the system have even extended the rainfall activities to parts of Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh along with parts of West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
Now, the system is expected to move west northwestward and take the rainfall activities to most parts of Maharashtra, North Karnataka along with West Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours. States of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will continue to witness good rains.
The system is expected to influence Monsoon pattern for another 48 hours. Thus, after 24 hours, parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and even the states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other areas of Northwestern Plains will witness light rains.
