The state of Kerala has been receiving good rains for the last few days. That is the reason why Kerala is the best performing state in South Peninsula till now, with a rain deficiency of mere 8%.
Recently, Kerala has received heavy rains with the passage of Cyclone ‘Gaja’. However, rains reduced thereafter. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, the city of Kochi in Kerala received 1 mm of rain, Kottayam 18.2 mm, Punalur 6 mm and Thiruvananthapuram recorded 5.6 mm.
Until yesterday only, the effect of Deep Depression over Arabian sea and Low-Pressure Area over Bay of Bengal was felt over Kerala. Now the Deep Depression has moved away westwards and its affect has also become insignificant.
Meanwhile, the Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area which is moving towards Tamil Nadu, is now expected to affect the state of Kerala as well. But its affect would be seen between November 21 and 23.
However, we do not expect any extremely heavy rains. Therefore, there is no threat of flooding or waterlogging.
During this time, the entire state of Kerala would receive moderate rains over south and central districts. By the end of this week, we expect rain deficiency of Kerala to come down even further.
