A prolonged spell of fresh Monsoon rains is likely to make re-appearance over East and Central India. All thanks to the fresh weather system developed in Bay of Bengal.

The system has intensified into a low pressure area and is now marked over North Bay of Bengal. Moreover, it is likely to further strengthen into a well-marked low pressure any time now.

The low pressure area is gradually moving in the westerly direction and is expected to move inland towards North Coastal Odisha.

Under the influence of the system, Odisha has already started recording moderate showers over many parts, with isolated heavy rain. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Keonjhargarh has recorded 99 mm of rain, Puri 68 mm, Chandbali 45 mm, and Digha 28 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, the system will continue to give good Monsoon rains along the northern parts of the East Coast, particularly Odisha. In addition to this, axis of Monsoon trough is also running through this system, further enhancing the rain activity.

As per the weathermen, moderate to heavy showers will initially cover East Coast, Odihsa, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh for the next 4-5 days.

Thereafter, it will be gradually moving westwards, covering parts of Central India. It is then, the cyclonic circulation prevailing over Northwest Madhya Pradesh will merge with this weather system.

In wake of this, rain belt will also shift and cover parts of East and Central Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
