Low Pressure gives three digit rains over Tuni, Andhra Pradesh

Heavy Monsoon rains have become a common feature over Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the past few days. All thanks to the weather system that developed in the west-central Bay of Bengal a few days ago.

At present, the weather system is lying over coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and its adjoining areas. The system had developed in the form of a cyclonic circulation in the Bay and has now moved inland and become a low pressure area. In the wake of this, good rains have occurred over the region during the last 24 hours.

While most places have only received light rains during this time frame, Tuni has been once city where very heavy rainfall has been recorded. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Tuni recorded a whopping 111 mm of rain.

Light rains were also recorded over other areas including Cuddappah 4 mm, Kalingapatnam 3.2 mm, Kurnool 5.6 mm, Ongole 0.8 mm, and Visakhapatnam 3.4 mm of rainfall.

The next 24 hours are also expected to be rainy for the region. The coastal areas of the state may receive some good spells of rain. In fact, the possibility of a few moderate showers cannot be ruled out over Rayalaseema as well.
