Low Pressure Becomes Well Marked, Flooding Rains Likely Over Tamil Nadu , Andhra Pradesh

Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal(BoB) has moved nearly westward. Also, it has become well marked and now lies over Southwest BoB, off North Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The main cloud cluster, manifesting intensity of weather system is still about 200km away from the coastline. The well marked low is inching closer, wielding warning of heavy to very heavy rains over the next 2 days, deluging parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Thick cloud bands spiraling ahead of the center of the weather system are likely to reach the coastline anytime in the evening/early night.  Tomorrow morning, the low pressure will roll over the coast and its circulation will cover parts of North Tamil Nadu, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. 

Heavy to very heavy rainfall and few places over Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema will witness extremely heavy rainfall on 17th and 18th Nov2021. Spread and intensity of rains will be quite large on the 2nd day.

Capital city Chennai, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Ranipet and Vellore are likely to have heavy rains on 17th and 18th November.  South Coastal Andhra Pradesh covering Nellore, Ongole, Kavali, Bapatla, Sriharikota and Machilipatnam are also expected to witness heavy to very heavy rains on both days, though much intense on the 2nd day. 

Few cities of Rayalaseema like Chittoor, Kurnool, Anantapuram, , Kolar, Tirupati and YSR District will observe heavy rains with a fair chance of extremely heavy rains in some pockets on 18thNov.  The rain intensity will reduce substantially on the next 2 days, 19th and 20th Nov.
