The states ofOdisha and Chhattisgarhexperienced scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers with few heavy spells during the last 24 hours. In fact, northern parts ofOdishaobserved moderate to heavy rains, such asJharsugudarecorded 59 mm of rain.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday,Balasorerecorded 27.4 mm of rain, followed by Chandabali 23.6 mm,Rajnandgaon20.4 mm, Angul 16.6 mm, Baripada 15.6 mm,Talcherand Bolangir 6 mm, Koraput 5.6 mm,Paradip4.1 mm and Cuttack 3.9 mm.
In the wake of these rains, significant fall in day temperatures was observed over most parts of Odisha andChhattisgarhand the sky conditions remained cloudy to overcast.
At present, thelow-pressure area lies over Northeast Bay of Bengaland adjoining region. Its associated cyclonic circulation is extending up to 7.6 km and tilting southwestwards. This weather system would be intensifying into a depression after 48 hours. It would be moving west/northwestwards.
Due to the influence of this system, most parts ofOdishawill witness moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers accompanied with strong winds during the next two to three days. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh will also get affected by the above system. The southern parts ofChhattisgarhare getting affected by the cyclonic circulation. And this system would also merge with the above weather system. Hence, during the next 24 hours, moderate rains will occur over parts of Chhattisgarh.
Thereafter, rain intensity will increase as these weather systems will be approaching Odisha. During that period, places likeBhubaneswar, Balasore,Angul, Keonjhargarh, Puri, Ganjam,Raigarh, Titlagarh, Nabrangpur, Raipur,Durg, Bilaspur andJagdalpurwill witness moderate to heavy rains.
The coastal stations of Odisha will witness very rough sea conditions. therefore, people and especially the fishermen are advised to take precautions and stay away from the sea during that period.
