Low Pressure Area to activate Northeast Monsoon over South India

Northeast Monsoon 2021 made an onset over southern parts of the country. It started on a soft note and rainfall activity has been on the light to moderate side. Very heavy rains have remained on the backseat and nothing very significant showers have been observed.

Currently, a Cyclonic Circulation is over South Bay of Bengal and under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to develop over the same region within the next 24 hours.

For the next two days or so, rains will remain on the lighter side with some moderate showers over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and parts of Karnataka. Thereafter, the system will move towards Tamil Nadu and the moment it comes closer to and may give some rains around October 29.

Good rains are expected to be seen in various parts of Kerala, Karnataka as well as Tamil Nadu. In fact, heavy showers may be seen in Chennai as well. Coastal parts will see more rains as compared to the internal areas. Until then, rains will be between light to moderate.
