Low Pressure Area revives Monsoon rains, more showers expected as it makes inland journey

The low-pressure area which had formed over Northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal has now moved inland and is currently over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha region.

The system has resulted in good rains over many parts of the East Coast, Bihar and Jharkhand as well as rainfall activity over many parts of the state of Telangana. Moreover, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas have also seen some rains during the same time frame.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Hanamkonda in Telangana recorded 97 mm of rain, forbesganj in uttar Pradesh saw 82 mm of rain, Rentachintala 77 mm, Wardha in Maharashtra 66 mm.

By tomorrow, this system is expected to move over Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, parts of Vidarbha due to which heavy rains are expected over these areas as well as the Konkan regions. Good showers will also be seen over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas.

Thereafter, the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand will also see some rains because of the peripherals and remnants of the system.

Rains over many parts of the country will not only be seen during the end of August, but since this system has a long lifespan, spillover of rains may be seen in initial days of September as well.
