Under the influence of westerly system, the low pressure area over Madhya Pradesh recurved to park itself over the central parts of Uttar Pradesh.  The weather system supported by well marked cyclonic circulation, deluged few pockets of the state, including the capital city Lucknow.  Kanpur (Chakeri), Bahraich and Ballia also got drenched with heavy rains.

The low pressure has weakened a bit, but still has the potential to saturate some more areas in the next 24hr.  Foothills and the eastern parts of the state will be at risk of being lashed with rainstorms today, lasting through the evening and night.  Few vulnerable locations include Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sitapur, Balrampur, Gonda, Maharajganj,  Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria and Ballia.

State of Uttar Pradesh carry the most deficit rainfall this season.  West and East Uttar Pradesh, both are deficit to the tune of 45% rainfall. The wide spread wet spell yesterday and another one likely today, will reduce the margin  of shortfall. Though, rather late in the season, the rains will provide some comfort to the farmer and compensate the water bodies for restoring water levels.

The low pressure area has already lost  bit of steam and is expected to flatten further in the next 48hr. The weather system is likely to break up  due to proximity of hills.  It will get subsumed by the monsoon trough, running across central and eastern parts of the state. No major weather activity is expected over the state after 24hr. Thereafter, mostly light rainfall, interspersed with few moderate showers are likely over the state. Weather activity will shift to Bihar, albeit with much lesser spread and intensity.
