Low pressure area over Odisha and Jharkhand moved northwest and is marked over the Chhattisgarh region. It will likely move further northwest and stay for about 48 hours over Madhya Pradesh. Vigorous monsoon conditions are likely to prevail for the next 4 days over Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Active monsoon conditions are expected to prevail over Marathwada and Vidarbha also on 29th&30thJune.
Under the influence of low-pressure area, the southwest monsoon has further advanced to cover more parts of Gujarat, Haryana and Punjab. The leftover portion is limited to western parts of Punjab & Haryana, half of Saurashtra, Kutch and West Rajasthan. Conditions are favourable for further advancement over most remaining parts in the next 48 hours, outside the extreme western posts of Rajasthan like Jaisalmer and Barmer. Monsoon is expected to cover the entire country before the due date of 08th July.
Positioning of low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh will accentuate the monsoon surge. Courtesy, Arabian Sea current, vigorous monsoon conditions will prevail over and around the tri-junction area of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. These are ideal conditions for very heavy rainfall over Konkan, including Mumbai and northern parts of Madhya Maharashtra like Nandurbar, Dhule, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar and the twin cities of Pune and Nashik.
Inclement weather conditions are expected over these parts between 27th and 30th June. Heavy rains and intense thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong gale-speed winds may result in disruption of normal life. Flooding rains may cause water logging and inundation of low-lying areas. Uprooting or felling of trees may impact communication and connectivity. Blessing in disguise, the rainfall deficit for the month of June will lower further substantially during this wet spell.
