Low pressure area from North Gujarat and neighbouring Rajasthan has now shifted to South Rajasthan. It is likely to move further over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining border areas in the next 24 hours and later cross over to the Pakistan region as remnant cyclonic circulation.  Low pressure has caused fairly widespread rainfall over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, South Rajasthan and Gujarat with isolated heavy falls over the interiors of north and central Gujarat.  State Capital Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Deesa received very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.

This weather system will slowly move westward over southwest Rajasthan in the next 24 hours and subsequently cross over to the Pakistan region.  The low-pressure area is getting sustained with moisture feed from the Arabian Sea.  Moderate to heavy rains are likely over North Gujarat, Southwest Rajasthan and parts of Kutch for the next 2 days, on the 18th and 19th of September.  Rains will vacate most parts on 20th September and get confined to Kutch only.  Better weather conditions are expected from 21st September onward.

During the next 48 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Deesa, Mehsana, Patan, Palanpur, Sabarkantha, Basankantha, Gandhidham, Bhuj, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Pali and Jalore.  On 20th September, moderate showers will continue over Kutch covering Kandla, Anjar, Mandvi, Bhuj, Naliya and Lakhpat. On the subsequent days, only light rains are expected over the state of Gujarat and some parts of Rajasthan.
