Updated on July 25, 2015 02:30 PM (IST): Low pressure area in Rajasthan to intensify; more heavy rains in offing

The Bay of Bengal has been quite active for the last two weeks. A series of cyclonic circulations have originated in the Bay and moved across Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh. Few of them have reached up to Gujarat as well.

At present, the cyclonic circulation which had reached East Rajasthan few days back, intensified into a low pressure area on Friday.

The weather system now lies over East Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh region. It will continue to bring heavy rainfall over many districts of Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.

Weather systems that originate in the Bay of Bengal and travel up to Central India, generally intensify on coming in proximity to the Arabian Sea. They receive the required amount of moisture to gain strength. The present weather system (low pressure area) could become a well-marked low pressure area as well in the coming days. Conditions are conducive for the system to linger around for another 48 hours and bring fairly widespread rain over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

The presence of the Western Disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir and the low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal will not allow the system over East Rajasthan to lose strength. All the three weather systems will complement each other to bring heavy showers in Central India.
