A cyclonic circulation was persisting over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and adjourning parts of the Andaman Sea. Under the influence of this cyclonic circulation over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and adjoining areas of Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to upper tropospheric levels tilting southwestward with height. It is likely to move in a West-Northwest direction and intensify into a depression over the West Central Bay of Bengal around November 16.

It is expected to move in the Northwest direction until November 16. Thereafter, it will change direction to the north, and gradually to the north-northeast towards Gangetic West Bengal and South Bangladesh coast. It may intensify into a deep depression.

By the night of November 17, this weather system will be over the Northwest Bay of Bengal. Due to the fast movement of this weather system, further intensification into a cyclonic storm is ruled out.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu have already witnessed moderate to heavy downpours. Moderate to heavy rain may continue over North Tamil Nadu and parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours and will reduce thereafter.

Light to moderate rainfall is possible over Odisha Coast and Gangetic West Bengal on November 15. The intensity of the rain will increase on November 16. There will be moderate to heavy rain over the north coast of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on November 17.
