However, a fresh low pressure area has nor developed in Bay of Bengal. It has been sustaining strength for quite sometime now. According to Skymet Weather, the system is presently marked over Gulf of Martaban.
It seems that the system might get more marked and induce a well-marked low-pressure area during the next 12 hours to 24 hours. However, weather models are nor promising the strengthening of this system further.
In wake of this system, Andaman and Nicobar Islands would continue with heavy rains for the next 24 hours and reducing thereafter.
The low pressure area would most likely start weakening after the next 48 hours over the same area. The system is also too far away from the Indian coast to impact the weather.
Although system might not be able to give any rains over Indian mainland but would possibly contribute to the other weather systems that would be eventually responsible for bringing the Northeast Monsoon later in the week.
There is no fixed date for the onset of Northeast Monsoon but it usually sets in around October 20.
