Low Pressure Area in Bay activates Rain in East India, more showers expected

The much-awaited Low Pressure area has finally formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal. So much so that the eastern coastal regions along with the interior east Indian parts have already started to see some rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Chandbali recorded 29 mm of rains, Cuttack 15 mm, Ranchi 15 mm, Balasore 11 mm, Kalingapatnam 18 mm, Muzaffarpur 15 mm, Contai 5 mm, and Kolkata 3 mm.

Now also, rainfall activities are expected to continue over northeastern parts of Bihar, wherein heavy showers will be seen over Araria, Purnea, Kishanganj, Supaul and adjoining region. State of Jharkhand will also see more showers, however, here rains will be on the moderate side.

At present, the low pressure area is over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The system is now moving west northwestwards towards Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Thus, rains are also expected over West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh. These showers are expected to be seen over the eastern parts of the country for at least the next three to four days.

Thereafter, the system will move away from the eastern parts and central India will be observing rains during that time.
