Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal (BoB),  low pressure area has formed over Northwest BoB and Gangetic West Bengal. It is supported by a cyclonic circulation up to medium levels of the atmosphere.

The weather system is likely to move northwestward over North Odisha and South Gangetic West Bengal in the next 24 hours. Moderate rainfall at many places and heavy spell at isolated locations is expected  in the next 24 hours.

Low pressure areas are forming in quick succession over Bay of Bengal  during September and keeping the monsoon active to vigorous over the eastern and central parts of the country. Another system is quite likely on 25-26 September, nearly over the same region. This system will roll over north-central Bay from Myanmar and track across the central parts of the country.

The existing low pressure area will move across Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and reach outskirts of Gujarat on 25thSep. Thereafter, the weather system will track slowly westward cutting across North Gujarat, Gulf of Kutch and Saurashtra between 26th and 28thSep. Later, it will enter the Arabian Sea and sail far away from the coast in the deep sea.

Active monsoon conditions are expected from one end to the other, stretching across Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat in a sequential manner, between 21st and 28thSeptember. The rainfall may not be very heavy but moderate intensity showers will have a large spread across the central parts of the country.
