Low pressure area churning up in Bay of Bengal

A cyclonic circulation has formed over South Andaman Sea and the adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean. It may induce a low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea by tomorrow December 5th.

Sea conditions are favorable for further intensification of the system. There is a likelihood that it may intensify into a depression over south Central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal by morning of December 7th.

It will continue its movement towards west northwest direction towards Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coast. Sea conditions are expected to remain rough over South Andaman Sea on December 4th and 5th. Moderate to heavy rain may occur over Southern Islands of Andaman and Nicobar during this period.

The movement of weather systems is fast, therefore chances of further intensification are less. Cyclone forms over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea until December. This system may not intensify into a cyclone, but it will be capable of giving moderate to heavy rain over many parts of Tamil Nadu on December 7 and 8. Southern districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh may also receive intense weather activities.

There is possibility of this weather system to cross south Peninsula and reach southeast Arabian Sea as a low pressure area. Lakshadweep may receive heavy downpour on December 9 and 10. Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea near Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coast between December 7 and 8.
