Winter has not only tightened its grip over North India but Vidarbha and Marathwada too are feeling the chill with minimums dropping way below the normal average.
Akola in the region recorded 7.7°C as the minimum temperature, which is 6 degrees below the normal average. Buldhana saw the minimum settle at 9.5°C, which is 5 degrees below normal. In Yeotmal, the minimum settled 7 notches below normal at 8°C. Nagpur and Gondia both recorded minimums of 6.6 degrees, which is 6 degrees below normal.
The minimum temperatures clearly indicate that cold wave conditions have gripped the region. However, the condition will improve in next 48 hours. Such conditions are usually not observed in the region very frequently. And if they do happen it does not last for longer periods.
The semi-permanent anti cyclonic circulation in east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh has shifted towards the southern parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat due to which the cold wave conditions are prevailing in the region.
