Mumbai rains had remained on the farther side with the city not receiving enough rains. However, rain gods have finally bestowed their kindness on the Mumbaikars and the city has been receiving moderate showers since yesterday.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Colaba recorded a good 52 mm of rains and Santa Cruz observatory also saw moderate showers to the tune of 43 mm. Today, also the city of Mumbai did see some good rains making an appearance during the morning hours. In fact, the weather has also become quite pleasant in Mumbai.
Moreover, Mumbai rains are expected to stay for another two days or so wherein the city is expected to see some showers with isolated heavy in pockets today, tomorrow and day after tomorrow, i.e., August 19, 20 and 21. On August 21, the showers may be slightly heavier than the rest of the days.
Whenever a system forms in the Bay, after crossing coast, it does move towards the central parts of the country. During that time, Mumbai rains get activated and some showers are seen over the city, which is the case at present.
By August 22, the system will weaken and move towards the north, thus, Mumbai rains will reduce.
So far during Monsoon, the city of Mumbai has seen 2278 mm of rains against the Monsoon average of 2373 mm. Chances are that the city may reach the average in these days.
