The deep depression moving northwards in the Arabian Sea is likely to affect offshore oilfield Bombay High. The system first triggered the onset of Monsoon over Kerala and later intensified further to become a deep depression.
Strong winds with rains are expected at the offshore oilfield site any time now. The oilfield is located at a distance of 162 km off Mumbai coast. Caution must be exercised as the facility is likely to get affected by the damaging potential of high velocity winds and rains.
Conditions aren’t favorable for aviation operations either. Authorities need to be careful as helicopters flying in and out of the facility may not be able to cope with inclement weather conditions.
As of now, the oilfield is well within the radius of the deep depression. The system is currently giving rain over coastal parts of Maharashtra. It is mainly affecting open sea waters and is likely to become a cyclonic storm.
