Kal Baisakhi or Nor’wester has established itself in most parts of West Bengal, isolated parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. During the last 24 hours, we have seen thunderstorm and thundershower activities over Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Malda, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Supaul, Bhagalpur and Purnia.

At present, a trough is extending from North Bihar up to Nagaland across North Bengal and Assam. The upper air trough is moving across eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining Jharkhand. Hence, scattered rain and thundershower activities would continue over North Bengal like Sikkim and adjoining Bhutan along with most parts of northeastern states.

Isolated activities will be observed in South Bengal districts like North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, Hugli, Bardhaman, Murshidabad and Nadia. As per the forecasters the activity is expected to stay for next 48 hours and is likely to intensify around April 6 and 7.

Despite the weather activities over the region, the day temperatures won’t be affected. This is because the development of thunderclouds take place normally after temperatures reach its peak. Hot weather conditions would continue to persist with pleasant evenings at most places. The activity would be supported by strong winds and lightning.
