Light widespread rain approaching Rajasthan

A fresh spell of winter rains is approaching Rajasthan in a span of next 24 hours. According to Skymet Weather, it will be a fairly widespread spell though light in intensity.

These fresh rains can be attributed to the confluence zone formed due to merging of two opposing winds, warm and humid winds from anti-cyclone over the Bay of Bengal and cold and dry northwesterly winds from northern plains.

This weather system was earlier responsible for giving rain over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.

However, shift of anti-cyclone over Chhattisgarh has pushed the confluence further westwards. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation over Saurashtra and adjoining Rajasthan is also pulling the weather system.

The zone is presently marked over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and Southeast Rajasthan.

According to Skymet weather, the rainy spell will last for a couple of days between February 18 and February 20. Rains will take a backseat February 21 onwards, paving way for the dry weather for rest of the month. Rajasthan has remained practically dry since the beginning of February.
