The City of Joy, Kolkata recorded moderate rainfall of 15 mm, as on September 28. In fact, since last many days, several places in West Bengal have been witnessing light to moderate showers. Likewise, the extravagantly celebrated Bengali festival- Vijaya Dashami is likely to conclude amid pleasant weather.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, the City of Joy, Kolkata recorded merely a few traces of rainfall. Whereas, other districts of West Bengal have recorded light to moderate showers.
These weather conditions can be attributed to an upper air trough which is seen extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal up to Odisha Coast in the lower levels. Also, this system is likely to persist and further will continue to feed moisture from the Bay of Bengal over Kolkata.

Due to the effect of this weather system over the area, light to moderate rain is expected to continue although they will occur in short spells over the city during the next two to three days.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the intensity of these rains will be highly localized and is likely to further reduce significantly after 48 hours. Despite this, on and off rains will keep the weather pleasant over the entire Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata during the similar time frame.

In the meantime, the maximums are expected to remain around 33-34 degree Celsius. Whereas, the minimum temperatures will be settling around 25-26 degree Celsius mark.
Hence, the residents of Kolkata city will experience comfortable weather conditions for the next few days. As on September 29, the sub-divisional rainfall distribution statistics show that Kolkata is rain surplus by 13%.
