Light to moderate rain likely over Uttarakhand

The higher reaches of Uttarakhand have witnessed some snowy showers, while the lower reaches remained mostly dry in last many days.

At present, both maximum and minimum temperatures over the state are settling above normal by 5 to 7 degrees. In fact, during last 24 hours, dry weather was observed over the state.

Now, the Western Disturbance over East Jammu and Kashmir is expected to move away eastwards. In wake of this, we can expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers over many parts of Uttarakhand during next 48 hours. In fact, the higher reaches of the state may record isolated snowfall activity.

Meanwhile, the plains of the state including Dehradun, Haridwar and adjoining areas may also record some spells of rain till February 21. Isolated places may see hailstorm activity as well.

From February 22, minimum temperatures over the state are expected to register a drop in many parts of the region. The weather is expected to once again go dry, with clear sky. Maximum temperatures will continue to settle above normal.

According to meteorologists at Skymet Weather, the frequency of Western Disturbances in the coming days is expected to reduce considerably as compared to the frequency in January and February.
