East Rajasthan is still the best performing region in the entire country with 51% more rains than its normal. West Rajasthan too is experiencing a rainfall surplus with 34% more rains than its normal. Moreover, this is further likely to increase by the month end.

At present, Gujarat which was highly rain deficient in July is now only 21% rain deficit. However Saurashtra & Kutch regions are normal with 11% lesser rains than its normal.

During last 24 hours, scattered light showers have occurred over most parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Most parts of Gujarat managed to witness moderate rains with heavy showers at a few places as well. However, rain intensity was more over eastern and northern parts of Rajasthan. Wherein, most regions recorded moderate to heavy showers.

Let's’ have a look at the rainfall witnessed by both the states in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday:

rain over gujarat and Rajasthan

Rains over both the states can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan. This cyclonic circulation was pulling up the moist winds from the Arabian Sea.

Now, this cyclonic circulation has shifted towards north and is at present seen over Haryana and adjoining areas. But, axis of Monsoon trough is still passing through Bikaner towards Uttar Pradesh. Thus, moisture feed will continue over parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan for another 48 hours.

Therefore, rains are likely to batter Gujarat for another 2 days. But, Kutch region is expected to remain mainly dry. However, isolated light rains over the region cannot be ruled out.

Similarly, Western parts of Rajasthan is also expected to remain dry. Districts such as Barmer, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are expected to witness clear weather and sunny days.

But eastern parts of the state is expected to continue with light to moderate showers. Districts such as Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Ajmer, Jaipur and Alwar are expected to receive good showers for another 24 to 48 hours.
