Delhi’s air quality continues to range from the ‘severe’ to the ‘very poor’ quality. The city has been witnessing bad air days for almost a month including the week-long stretch of severe pollution levels spanning from November 7 to November 14.

The air quality deteriorated on Friday again with the air quality breaching the 400-mark. Though this was after November 14 that the city breathed such a severe quality of air. The reason for the deteriorating pollution levels can be attributed to the fluctuations in the wind pattern.

Delhi’s air quality yesterday was 343. The air quality index for the adjoining regions is no good as well. Ghaziabad continued to remain the worst affected city with the Air Quality of 455 seconded by Noida with a 372 count of Air Quality. Gurugram and Faridabad are respectively on the fourth and fifth mat after Delhi with worsening air quality of 318 and 289.

As per Skymet Weather, the air quality is anticipated to rise again in the coming days. Light easterly winds will bring in the moisture content, thereby leading to an increase in the pollution levels. The possibilities of a reduction in the pollution levels are not likely until the wind speed increases which is not predicted until December 5 when Delhi and NCR are expected to witness light rains.

These rains can be attributed to the severe cyclonic storm Ockhi which is likely to travel in a west-northwest direction towards Gujarat Coast and would weaken as a Depression. The peripherals of this system will result in rains over Delhi and NCR.
