Rain in Gujarat

After a prolonged dry spell, scattered rains have once again commenced over many parts of Gujarat. Scattered light rains have been occurring for the past two days over Ahmedabad, Porbandar, Idar, Rajkot, and Naliya. As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is persisting over Kutch and adjoining South Pakistan.

Due to this weather system, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are are increasing moisture over Gujarat. This is leading to cloud formations and scattered rain and thundershower activities over many parts of Gujarat. Idar which received heavy rain between July 22 and 26 has once again received moderate showers.

Now it is anticipated that the cyclonic circulation is likely to persist over the same region and scattered rains will continue over many parts of Gujarat. Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar, Valsad, Amreli may receive scattered light showers but one or two moderate showers cannot be ruled out.

However, heavy to very heavy rains spells which were witnessed in the third week of July will not make a comeback. These scattered rains will give relief from the ongoing warm weather conditions. As on August 8, Saurashtra and Kutch are rain surplus by 47 percent and Gujarat region is rain surplus by 37 percent.
