Rains have reduced tremendously over the state of Bihar as the month of August started. Though July ended for parts of the state on a rainy note but August as of now failed to record many good showers of rain. Apart from a three-digit rain that was recorded in the capital city Patna on August 3, otherwise, moderate and heavy spells have remained absent.
In the last 24 hours also, rain intensity over Bihar was mainly light in nature with a few isolated moderate spells. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Forbesganj recorded 35.4 mm of rains, Gaya 3.4 mm, and Chapra witnessed 2.4 mm of rains.
As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation was over Jharkhand and adjoining region and the axis of Monsoon trough was also running along the foothills of Himalayas. Due to this, rain in light to isolated moderate intensity occurred over parts of the state.

However, now as the axis of Monsoon trough is passing from Kapurthala towards Northeast Bay of Bengal across West Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal with slight oscillation. And the cyclonic circulation has moved west northwestwards and is presently seen over the northern parts of Madhya and adjoining Uttar Pradesh, rains over Bihar are likely to reduce.
Though, the western regions of the state such as Patna, Chapra, and Gaya will continue to witness light rainy spells for another 2-3 days. Due to the rainfall reduction, a slight rise in the temperature profile is also expected.
