The rainy days for Kerala has not ended yet as on and off rains are occurring in Kerala almost each day. Though the intensity of these showers has reduced drastically yet on and off rains have not stopped occurring in the state.

In the last 24 hours also, rains ranging from light to isolated moderate intensity have lashed the most popular tourist spot of South India. Within the span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Kottayam recorded 8.2 mm of rains, Thrissur 9 mm, Kannur 6 mm, Kozhikode 5 mm, Punalur 3 mm and Alappuzha witnessed 2 mm of light rains.

The reason for these light spells can be attributed to the inactive offshore trough running along the West Coast. Moreover, the trough that is extending from Rayalaseema to South Tamil Nadu will also give light rains in Kerala while, Tamil Nadu will get to see some good showers.

Thus, as of now also, Kerala is likely to continue witnessing scattered rains though the intensity of these rains will be light in nature for another 2-3 days. In contrast with the coastal districts of the state, the rain intensity will be more in the interior regions.

The rain is likely to decrease within the next 24 hours and only light rains will continue over the state. Though, heavy spells are ruled out.
