Weather in most parts of northwest India is soaring under the rising mercury levels. Similar is the condition of Gujarat from a long time which is reeling under warm and dry weather conditions.

Temperatures across most parts the state has climbed above the 35-degree mark in the last 24 hours while isolated places of the westernmost state have even surpassed or are very close to 40 degrees. In the last 24 hours, Bhuj recorded a scorching 40℃. On the other hand, districts such as Ahmedabad and Idar also seem to follow the suit and had witnessed 39.4℃ and 39℃ temperature respectively.

The other districts of the state had also reeled under hot and sunny days. Districts such as Kandla and Surendranagar recorded 38.6℃ and 37℃ respectively, Bhavnagar 38℃ and Rajkot observed 37℃ maximum temperature. However, a brief respite from the ongoing dry days is expected in parts of South Gujarat that braces for some light rains soon.

As per Skymet Weather, due to the persistence of an anti-cyclonic circulation over South Rajasthan and adjoining Kutch, dry winds from the northeast direction are blowing in most parts of Gujarat. As these winds are traveling from Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh, therefore, the maximums of Gujarat are very high. Furthermore, clear sky and sun’s insolation has also played a role in increasing the mercury levels.

However, now, Skymet Weather predicts the possibility of some light showers to show up in some parts of South Gujarat in districts such as Surat, Valsad, Amreli, and Bhavnagar during the weekend that is anticipated to continue until October 9.

These rains will be due to a trough which is expected to develop from Odisha to Konkan & Goa.
