At present, day and night temperatures of northern parts of Madhya Pradesh are significantly above normal. Day temperatures are above the normal mark by 4 to 8 degrees and night temperatures or minimums are above normal by 3 to 5 degrees. Dry weather conditions are continuing over the entire state since last many days. The increase in temperatures can be attributed to change in wind direction from northerly to south westerly.
Presently, an active Western Disturbance is seen over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Punjab and adjoining West Haryana and North Rajasthan. These weather systems will further move eastwards. Due to this, we expect light rains at one or two places in North and Northeast Madhya Pradesh on January 22.
The confluence zone for the merging of winds from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal is expected to form over East Madhya Pradesh on January 24. Therefore, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershower activities on East Madhya Pradesh between January 25 and 27. Day temperatures will drop by four to six degree Celsius during this time. Also, there are chances of hailstorm activities at a few places. We expect rains over places like Satna, Pana, Umaria, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni and Chhindwara. However, places like Ratnam, Ujjain, Bhopal and, Khandwa, Mansour will not receive much rains during this time.
