Light rains likely over Delhi from today; intensity to increase by August 7-8

August 5, 2017 6:29 PM |

Cloudy weather in Delhi

August has remained unfortunate for parts of Delhi and NCR as not much good rains have been observed by the national capital and its adjoining regions. It was back on July 31 that Delhi had recorded 26 mm of rains. Post that, good rains have refrained themselves from pouring over the capital of the country and its adjoining regions. The capital saw another warm and humid day on Friday with the maximum temperature recording at 35°C, which is one degree above the normal for the season.

Due to this, the residents of Delhi and NCR have been facing uneasy weather conditions. Since then, good Monsoon rains have remained in the hiding. The Safdarjung and Palam Observatory in Delhi have also not recorded any Monsoon rains in the last 24 hours.

At present, the weather of Delhi and the adjoining regions such as Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram has become cloudy and isolated rains may make up their way towards Delhi and NCR. The western arm of the axis of Monsoon trough is likely to shift slightly towards the south. Due to this, rainfall activities are likely to gear up over Delhi in the upcoming days. Thereafter, these light Monsoon rains may further intensify into moderate spells by August 7 and 8. There will generally be cloudy skies with light thundershowers and rainfall activities that might start occurring from Saturday night.
